Rescuing dogs is not an easy task. It entails so much of your time, effort and even your personal money. So why do we rescue dogs anyway if it will only take much more time, effort and money from us? It is because of our love for the dogs and also our own advocacy to save the lives of hundreds of abandoned and abused dogs in our locality. Karen Davidson's famous quote is:

Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog, the world will change forever.

Bacolod City, Philippines is one place where stray dogs are being caught and brought to the city pound. You can imagine the horrible situation of the "man's best friend" inside the pound wherein some of them suffers hunger, fear and torment amid all other dogs. Sad to say that these captives will not stay long at the city pound. Their lives are limited and will soon be individually put to sleep by a single bullet.

We started as a small group rescuing stray dogs. It was on January 2014 that our first rescue happened. We named the dog "PanPan" as he was found astray near the Panasiatic Call Center at the Circumferential Road, Bacolod City. All rescues where brought to the residence of one of our member, Theresa Antaran Japsay. She takes care of the rescues and spends her personal money in medication, foods and grooming. Not until the time came when well-off passionate dog lovers supported our cause and provided us shelter big enough to accommodate all the rescues from Theresa's residence. Proper medical care were given and foods were abundant for the rescues that left us nothing to worry at all. Soon enough the shelter were populated and our group focused mainly on rescuing dogs from the city pound.

Time came when other members got out of the group and started their own advocacy using the social media as their venue of seeking financial support for their rescues. That was also the time Theresa had to withdraw our rescues from the shelter and sent them all back to her residence.

Presently, Theresa's dogs were around 30 plus and awaiting for someone to adopt or foster not to mention the 7 lovely cats she feed. We stopped rescuing from the city pound because of space unavailability. Other rescue groups emerged and continued the advocacy of rescuing from the pound that we had started. We solely leave to them the plight of the rescues from the city pound.




Our advocacy continues even with only a number of donors and supporters. They still support Theresa by sending dog foods and even medicines. I believe that it is really not that easy to feed and take care of the well-being of several rescues. I am writing this not only to ask for support but also to awaken the public on how hard life is in painstakingly taking care of rescue dogs. Your social life is affected and seldom you can find time to attend to gatherings of family and friends if nobody is around to tend your rescues at home. Your personal money will be spent to your rescues that you can no longer afford to buy for your own. But that is what you call passion for the animals. Theresa has the skills and talent in giving extra loving care and attention to the rescues. Hoping that someday there is that someone who will build a shelter for the rescues.
