Typhoon Ulysses brought havoc in the Philippines as it flooded Metro Manila and the rest of the provinces in the northern part. 

A tweet shows a dog feeling devastated, tired, full of fear and losing hope. He hangs on the rooftop of a house while the ground is no longer visible due to the strong floods that ravaged around.

The picture is surely heart-breaking. Responsible dog owners made their way of rescuing their pets, others made it, but some perish because they are chained and lose their hopes of surviving. 

It is a common practice for most Filipinos to have their dogs tied inside their property for many reasons but not limited to the following:

• Aggression
• Stray dogs are often caught and brought to the pound
• Control canine population
• Control or eliminate the spread of rabies 
• To maintain good health condition and avoid canine parasites like ticks, fleas and mange

Natural disasters like flash floods and earthquake make residents scamper to safe places and oftentimes forget their loyal friends left behind. 

We all should learn from others' mistakes. If you can't bring with you your pets, untie them during natural disasters because they can find their own way of survival. 

There is no faith which has never yet been broken, except that of a truly faithful dog. -
